Charlton v Watford
The Addicks return to SE7 this weekend as they welcome newly-promoted Watford to The Valley. Karen Hills’ side put on a positive performance last weekend against recently-relegated Reading with the points shared between the two sides.
Despite chances for new summer signings Kayleigh Green and Carla Humphrey, it unfortunately was not enough for Charlton to walk away with all three points as the game remained scoreless. The draw sees Charlton sit seventh in the Barclays Women’s Championship table heading into Sunday’s game.
Damon Lathrope’s side head into this weekend’s proceedings also searching for their first three points this season after they saw themselves fall short last weekend to London City Lionesses. After a 15th-minute goal from Abbie Lafayette, London City was able to put three past The Golden Girls where Carly Johns’ attempt to give her side a lifeline with a 58th-minute goal was not enough to equal out the scoreline.
This is Watford’s first time in the Championship since 2022, Lathrope's in the National League South from the 2018- 19 season to 2020-21, where they saw themselves earn promotion to the Championship, before being relegated.
The last time these two sides locked horns was back in February 2022 at The Oakwood, where Charlton’s dominance saw the side take all three points in a 3-0 win. Watford are yet to earn a victory over Charlton in the Championship.
