Today’s game is the last league home game of the year for Charlton Athletic women!
They are coming up against Bristol City for the first time since they were promoted to the WSL in 2023. Here is everything you need to know about the clash and the matchday surrounding it...
CHARLTON
Charlton have been tested in their last few games, losing their first home game last week to Southampton 1-0 in an unlucky defeat at The Valley. They have kept fans on their toes in the previous matches with last minute equalisers against Newcastle and Sunderland. They also recorded their first league defeat in 539 games away from home to London City Lionesses.
THE OPPOSITION
Bristol City have had a similar journey in the league as Charlton so far. Their most recent game was a 2-0 victory over Newcastle last weekend. Their game before was a seven goal thriller against Sunderland where Bristol missed out on the three points losing 4-3.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The two sides are currently sitting on the same points in the Championship with the same goal difference so the teams couldn’t be better contested. The last time the two teams faced each other in the championship will give Bristol fans some fond memories as it was the day they lifted the Barclays Championship trophy and were promoted to the WSL after being Charlton 4-0. Before this, both teams recorded a 2-0 win. each.
