MATCH REPORT: Charlton 1 Bristol City 2

Princess Ademiluyi

The Addicks lost their second home game on the bounce to Bristol City in the Barclays Women’s Championship today.

Heading into the game, both teams were tied on points and goal difference, making this a crucial fixture, but unfortunately, the Robins came out on top.

Bristol City started off strong, putting pressure on Charlton’s defence, and it didn't take long for Lexi Lloyd-Smith to open the scoring in the 5th minute, sending a header into the back of the net. Twelve minutes later, Libby Bance tucked in Jamie-Lee Napier’s cut-back, doubling their lead.

Not losing momentum, Charlton continued to put pressure on the opponent, breaking through their back line and causing issues for the Robins with link-ups from Hutton, Brazil, and Ademiluyi, who had her first start for the Addicks that day.

The home side were then rewarded with a corner in the 40th minute. The cross fell back to Jodie Hutton, who struck the ball into the back of the net!

The last few minutes of the first half saw tight competition between the two teams, but neither were awarded a goal.

Bristol City dominated the majority of the second half of the game, but Charlton kept strong defensively to keep the scoreline at 2-1. The Addicks had a couple of moments in the second half but couldn't find the equaliser.
