MATCH PREVIEW
Charlton Women have had a really strong start to their 2024/25 FA Women's Championship campaign, currently sitting at the top of the table. Hills' side remain unbeaten in the league, having won all four of their opening matches. Their season began with a commanding 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Portsmouth, followed by a hard-fought 1-0 away win against Sheffield United. They then secured a 2-1 comeback victory against Durham and most recently, a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers, marking their third clean sheet in the league.
Charlton's defence has been solid, conceding just one goal in these four matches, while their attack has been equally effective, netting eight goals across these fixtures.
Sunderland secured their first win of the season last weekend with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over London City Lionesses, thanks to Natasha Fenton's goal. This win was crucial as it lifted the team from the bottom of the table after a challenging start to the season.
Their goal against London City Lionesses was their first of the season after losing 3-0 to Sunderland and 5-0 to Birmingham City in the opening game of the season.
Last season Charlton took the upper hand in the head-to-head games between these two teams. At the end of last season the Addicks took a 1-0 win on the road, completing their unbeaten run away from home and finishing Sunderland's chance at promotion. At home the game finished level at 1-1 with goals from Mckenna and Watson.
In the previous season, the same results were recorded with one draw and one win for Charlton. However, in the 2021/22 season Sunderland took three points both home and away against the Addicks.
