Karen Hills’ side tasted triumph in Hertfordshire as two second-half strikes from the Addicks sealed a 2-0 victory at Vicarage Road.
The deadlock was broken shortly after the interval through Melissa Johnson before Melisa Filis extended Charlton’s lead in additional time.
It was the hosts who threatened first as Bianca Baptiste was slipped through on goal. The forward’s strike had beaten Jessica Gray, fortunately for the Addicks, Rebecca McKenna was there to steer the danger clear.
Charlton came close to opening the scoring through the skipper Kiera Skeels as Filis swung a corner into the box, the captain rose high but headed wide of the post.
Freda Ayisi let fly from range after dancing past two Watford midfielders, rifling an effort over the bar.
On the cusp of half-time, Gray was called into action once again as Michelle Agyemang found herself alone in the Charlton box. The forward was able to turn, eventually hammering a pass across the face of goal, forcing Gray into making an important stop.
Charlton took the lead in the 56th minute through Johnson. Some quick pressure from the forward saw Johnson dispossess Safia Middleton-Patel in net for the home side, allowing the centre-forward to tap into an empty net.
Johnson was on hand to coolly convert from close range once again as she was slipped in on goal ten minutes later, fortunately for the hosts, the flag was up for offside.
The Addicks remained in control for the majority of the second period and received their reward in additional time. A superb passage of play from Charlton saw Johnson tee up Filis inside the Golden Girls’ penalty area, the midfielder made no mistake and wrapped her strike inside the near post to double the lead.
