Miles Leaburn will return to training on Monday after missing the opening month of the campaign with an ankle injury.
The 19-year-old, who netted 12 goals in an outstanding debut season, was injured as a result of a clumsy challenge in the opening pre-season fixture of the summer at Welling United.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game against Oxford United, manager Dean Holden said: “Miles is due to start training on Monday. He’s done the last couple of days in the warm-ups and the passing drills but he’ll be back in full training on Monday which is a positive for us.”
With Leaburn missing, Daniel Kanu has impressed in recent weeks. The 18-year-old who scored his first two league goals for the club last week and secured impressive A-Level and BTEC results.
Holden said: “Since I came in at Christmas, my first game he had his debut, at a time when we were close to the relegation places. I’ve been really pleased with him. He’s a brilliant example of our academy and what it looks like, not just on the pitch but with the way they set you up with life skills. He’s excelled in his exam results as well as doing his bit on the football pitch, he’s had a good week. He’s infectious, the players love him to bits, he’s always wanting to improve, he’s got a great mindset. He still has lots to learn in his game of course but we’re really pleased with where he is at currently in his development.”
