Forward Karin Muya netted her first two goals in quick succession in an Addicks shirt last weekend, as Charlton progressed through to the fourth round of this season's Adobe Women's FA Cup after recording a 6-0 win against Bournemouth on the south coast.
Ahead of a trip to Sheffield United on Sunday, we spoke with our No.16 as Karen Hills’ side prepares for their final run out of 2023.
“It felt great to finally get on the score sheet – I’ve been training hard the past few weeks.
“Players are able to score goals in training, and once you have the opportunity it’s great to take it. It’s obviously a good feeling so now hopefully it’s the start of many for me.”
After a stylish link-up with Rebecca McKenna for her second goal, Muya emphasised the strength of the Addicks and settling in with her teammates following a move in the summer:
“Coming in quite late towards the end of pre-season, I had to adapt fast, but the girls and the staff were so welcoming, it was so easy. I feel like I’ve been myself since the beginning.
With one last matchday before the winter break, Karen Hills and her side face Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon – an opponent that Muya is certainly not underestimating:
“[Sheffield United] have very good players and are currently playing well. Playing up north is hard – they’re probably going to be very physical.
“We’re definitely not taking our preparation lightly. We’re going there fully respecting them and we’re expecting a tough challenge.”
“We’re just focusing on the game at hand and trying to win it."
The Addicks will face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday, December 17th KO 2pm available to stream free on the FA player
