Red Saturday at The Valley

'

On Blue Monday, Charlton Athletic is proud to announce a new collaboration with RED January, the nationwide movement that harnesses the power of physical activity and community to support mental health.

The partnership will culminate in Red Saturday on Saturday, January 25th, when the Addicks host Shrewsbury Town at The Valley for a special matchday designed to inspire fans and locals to get active, connect, and boost their wellbeing.

With evidence of lower activity levels, mood and energy, and reports of increased isolation, winter can be challenging for all of us. Charlton Athletic and RED January are coming together to prove that being part of a strong community - whether it's a football club or a movement like RED January - can make a powerful difference.

Charlton CEO Charlie Methven said: "Football clubs are more than just teams; they are communities, lifelines, and sources of belonging. Through this partnership with RED January, we want to encourage our fans to not only support Charlton on the pitch but to support each other off it - through movement, connection, and mental wellbeing."

RED January founder Hannah Beecham MBE added: "The impact of moving together in a shared goal cannot be overstated. By teaming up with Charlton Athletic for Red Saturday, we’re showing how football fans and local communities can come together to prioritise their mental health and support one another."

Fans and locals are encouraged to come along to SE7 on Saturday, January 25th as Charlton take on Shrewsbury and invite all supporters to turn The Valley red, reinforcing the message that no one has to go through tough times alone.
