Charlton's U18s recorded a 3-1 win on the road at Colchester United on Saturday.
Reuben Reid was at the double for the young Addicks, with Raynon Richman adding a third ahead of the hour mark.
A neat move from Jason Pearce’s side saw Charlton take an early lead, as Phoenix Valentine was slipped in behind the U’s defence. The full-back fired a pass across the face of goal, where Reid was on hand to convert with a cool finish.
Reid secured his brace just minutes later, wrapping up a sensational solo effort with a well-placed finish. The forward was able to shrug off his opponent before using a nice piece of skill to feint away from the oncoming defender and fire across goal with a left-footed driven effort.
Some quick thinking from the young Addicks resulted in a third just moments before the 60-minute mark. A corner was taken quickly, seeing a cross lifted towards Richman at the front post. Despite slipping as the ball approached, the forward's effort ricocheted off the defender back into his path and he slotted home from close range.
The hosts' pulled a goal back with 20 minutes left on the clock as a deep ball was hammered up towards substitute Josh Adesanya, who fired his strike under Logan Williams and into the back of the net.
Pearce’s U18s are back in action on Saturday morning when they face Wigan Athletic at Christopher Park (KO 11am GMT).
