Charlton's U18s kickstarted their Professional Development League Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday afternoon.
That means the young Addicks sit second in Group E, with Colchester United currently topping the group following their 2-0 triumph over Stevenage.
Jason Pearce’s side opened the scoring inside 15 minutes through Shia-Lee Burnham. A deep cross to the back post was headed back across goal, eventually flicked on by Jack Belton into the path of Burnham and he slotted his effort into the bottom corner on the turn.
Charlton’s lead lasted just 14 minutes as the hosts levelled the scoring from the spot, with Ethan Cann being penalised for a handball in the box.
The U18s are next in PDL Cup action in October, hosting Stevenage in their second Group E fixture.
