U21 PREVIEW | Watford v Charlton

'

Charlton's U21s return to league action on Tuesday, taking on Watford at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium (3pm KO BST).

The young Addicks will be seeking a first win in five across all competitions against a Watford side who currently sit bottom of the Professional Development League 2 - South table having lost all four of their opening games.

“We're feeling confident that we're going to go there and put in a good performance," said  coach Hamza Serrar. "The performances have been better in the last four - I have seen an increase in our performances in training and in games. We've been a bit unfortunate with a couple of results.

"Watford have not had the best of starts," he added. "It can be tricky as they will be looking to bounce back every week. It will be a good challenge and a game I am looking forward to. Watford are one of the best U21 teams in terms of playing football and they have a good philosophy."

Charlton currently sit third in the southern section with 13 points from their seven league games to date.

“For us it's about developing players and giving opportunities whilst also challenging for titles and creating that winning mentality by looking to win silverware every season at least," Serrar explained. "The league is one of the competitions that we thrive in. It's still early days. We just need a run of results and that is coming soon."
