Charlton’s U21s returned to winning ways with a 4-2 triumph over Bristol City on Monday afternoon.
Daniel Kanu was the hat-trick hero at Princes Park, with Jason Adigun also getting his name on the scoresheet.
The young Addicks made a superb start to proceedings and raced into a 14th-minute lead through Kanu, who headed home Toby Bower’s pinpoint cross.
Adigun doubled his side’s advantage on 25 minutes, reacting quickest to stab home after Bower rattled the crossbar with a left-footed free-kick from just outside the 18-yard box.
Kanu had his second and Charlton’s third just moments later, rising highest to nod Henry Rylah’s stunning cross beyond visiting goalkeeper Mac Boyd.
Chris Lock’s side continued to dominate and Kanu completed his hat-trick on 35 minutes when he was adjudged by the referee to have got the final touch on Rylah’s centre.
Kai Churchley pulled a goal back for the visitors on the stroke of half-time, guiding Sam Pearson’s cross past Prince Adegoke.
Churchley bagged his brace 18 minutes into the second period, but Charlton saw the game out professionally to condemn the Robins to their first league defeat in four.
The U21s are next in action on Monday, October 9th, taking on Norwich City in the Premier League Cup at Princes Park (KO 7pm BST).
