Charlton's U21s fell to a 3-1 defeat against Swansea City in south Wales on Monday afternoon.
Sammy Henia-Kamau opened the scoring for the hosts inside 23 minutes. The forward collected the ball on the edge of the box and on shimmied to his left foot before firing a low strike into the back of the net.
The Swans had their second just moments later as Josh Pesactore netted from the penalty spot, sending Lennon MacLorg the wrong way.
Harvey Kedwell was given a golden chance to halve the deficit ahead of the interval as Ibrahim Fullah was brought down in the box, allowing the captain to step up and fire in from 12 yards.
Unfortunately for the young Addicks, Henia-Kamau restored the Swans' lead deep into the second half following a well-worked piece of play.
The U21s are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Southampton in the Premier League Cup quarter-finals (KO 2pm GMT).
