Charlton's U21s suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of an experienced Swansea City side in south Wales on Monday afternoon.
The hosts raced into an early lead after just two minutes through Liam Smith, who converted past Henry Molyneux following a swift Swansea move.
The Swans were given a golden chance to double their advantage on 20 minutes, when Ben Lloyd was fouled inside the box. Cameron Congreve stepped up and made no mistake, sending Molyneux the wrong way.
Kyle Naughton soon added the hosts’ third, volleying home from the edge of the 18-yard box.
Three became four moments later as Ruben Davies dusted himself off to dispatch his spot-kick beyond Molyneux.
Davies bagged his second and Swansea’s fifth five minutes before half-time following neat work from Ollie Cooper and Smith.
No goals followed in the second period at Swansea’s Landore training academy as the hosts extended their unbeaten home record in 2023.
