After Charlton's penalty joy against Doncaster Rovers in the League One play-off semi-finals videos emerged from the Charlton dressing room celebrations where Dillon Phillips led the teams' rendition of 'Twist and Shout'.
The song picked up momentum amongst the Charlton fans and was played twice in the stadium after the Addicks play-off victory yesterday and again in the Charlton changing room. You can see some of the post-game footage here.
Phillips explained: “It’s come from something that we do in team bonding sessions if I may call them that!
"We’ve done it at a couple of Christmas do’s before and as soon as I got back into the changing room from doing the press (after Doncaster), the boys were egging me on to do it and I thought ‘why not get it done?’ it’s a bit of fun."
When asked if he could see the Addicks fans adopting the song, Phillips said: "Yeah if they want to nick it off me, they’re more than welcome! It probably started from me being silly on some night out, but it’s all a bit of fun."
