Joe Aribo joins Rangers

Midfielder Joe Aribo has joined Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

The 22-year-old opted not to agree to a new deal to keep him at The Valley and has made the move to join Steven Gerrard’s side, with Charlton set to receive an undisclosed training compensation fee as per FIFA regulations.

Aribo was brought into the club’s academy from Staines Town in 2015 and made his mark in the first team during the 2016/17 season, going on to make a total of 97 appearances, scoring 16 goals, playing a key role in last season’s promotion-winning side.

Addicks boss Lee Bowyer was left disappointed by Aribo’s decision, but wished him luck for the future.

“We’re disappointed to see Joe go,” he explained.

“He has come on a lot as a player over the last 18 months. I’d thank to thank him as he played a big part in our promotion season and wish him the best going forward. We’ll be watching him and hope he can go on to play at the highest level possible.”

The club would like to wish Joe all the best in his future career.
