Addicks midfielder, Josh Cullen, was the pick of the bunch for The Republic of Ireland on Tuesday night as they overcame Bulgaria 3-1 in Dublin.
The midfielder put in a trademark midfield display, helping to carve out a number of opportunities for the Boys in Green with his play-making and was named man of the match on his senior debut.
Speaking to Virgin Media Sport after picking up his award post-match, Cullen was clearly ecstatic with his first start for Ireland.
“It’s a dream come true," he said.
"To get my debut, a win and man of the match, it doesn’t come much better than that.
“I’m delighted, I’m over the moon. The gaffer [Mick McCarthy] named the team on Sunday – I had a couple of days to prepare for it and I’ve just been looking forward to it."
Meanwhile, Cullen attributes his performances and regular game time at Charlton for helping him to kick on in his career both domestically and internationally.
“I’m grateful to be regularly playing for Charlton - against good sides and for a good team. That will only stand me in good stead to get more caps for my country.”
