Speaking after Charlton's 3-1 defeat to Doncaster Rovers at The Valley on Saturday, Lee Bowyer bemoaned his side's performance in front of goal and explained what needs to be done to improve, while also praising the supporters that returned today.
Speaking on the performance, Bowyer was left feeling frustrated at his side's lack of quality in the final third.
"You don’t lose 3-1 if you’re the better side," he said.
"But what drives me crazy is that we still created chances and we don’t take them. I just said to the players it should have been 4-4. We didn’t defend well and we didn’t take our chances again. Frustrating, very frustrating.

"Goals win games and if you don’t take your chances and do the right things in the right areas, you don’t win games. That’s the difference. Look what they’ve done for the second goal. When did we get into positions and put crosses in like that? We didn’t. But these are things that we work on every day.
"You do work all week and then you play like that and make mistakes like that. They scored at good times but we should have scored before they did."
With the ongoing issues surrounding the club's ownership and transfer embargo, Bowyer reiterated that the club needs to sign players to provide competition in the squad.
"I said to the players I hope things change quickly because we need players," he explained.
"This group that’s there now need competition to make them realise that you’re not going to be playing next week if you’re not doing well because, as we stand today, there is not that competition.
"This group think that they have just played bad and it’s okay because there’s another game next week. You’re going nowhere if you’ve got a squad like that. I’ve just told them that.
"I don’t know how that’s going to happen because we can’t sign anyone. I have to just keep working hard with this group of players but this club needs to have ambition. It’s a big club and we need something to happen quickly."
But there were some positives for the manager to take with the return of supporters at the game today.
"[They were] very good, I’m over the moon. Even though there were only 1000 there they were singing when the players came out. It gives you goosebumps because we’ve missed them so much, hopefully it went well regarding that side of things and they’ll be able to let more back in. They’ve been well missed."
Meanwhile, the Addicks boss confirmed that Chuks Aneke was missing from the matchday squad after testing positive for coronavirus.
" He reported on Wednesday that he didn't feel well," explained Bowyer.
"He was told to stay away, did his test and it came back positive so he hasn't been in since the West Ham game. Even when he's fit, we can't get him on the pitch, so it's unbelievable!"
