Lee Bowyer could hand Ben Watson his first start as an Addick in Wednesday’s EFL Trophy game against Brighton & Hove Albion U21s.
The veteran midfielder became the first signing of the Thomas Sandgaard era when he joined the club on Friday and made his debut as a substitute in Sunday’s game against Lincoln City.

Bowyer said: “Ben will play in that game. We’ve got to get some minutes into him. Obviously he’s had no minutes. Sunday was the first minutes he’s had. He’s only been in training with us the last couple of weeks so that will be a game for him.”
The Charlton Manager explained he would use the game to test the progress of some of the younger members of his squad.
He said: “Some of the younger lads will come back in, so we’ll make a few changes.”
Meanwhile, Chuks Aneke, who has been sidelined with coronavirus, tweeted on Tuesday: “Back to work. Not been an easy few weeks, sending positive energy to anyone in pain with symptoms or self-isolated along, stay strong.”
