Nigel Adkins has made six changes to his starting XI for this afternoon’s League One clash at Wycombe Wanderers, handing Harry Arter his full league bow 14 years after his first Charlton debut.
Elsewhere, Pape Souaré earns his maiden Addicks start, while Jonathan Leko will enjoy his second full debut for the club.
Club captain Jason Pearce starts at the heart of defence to make his 150th appearance for the club in all competitions, with George Dobson and Conor Washington also returning.
Assuming the Addicks shift to a 3-4-3 formation then Sam Lavelle, Pearce and Akin Famewo will form a three-man defence ahead of Craig MacGillivray, with Chris Gunter and full debutant Souaré expected to operate as wing-backs. Dobson and Arter start in the middle of the park, while Leko and Washington will flank Jayden Stockley.
Speaking on his team selection, Adkins told CharltonTV: “The transfer window has gone, we’ve now got a very large squad of players. We’ve got two guys that have missed out today and we’ve got three or four who have been left in the training ground.
“We’ve got a game on Tuesday - Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday. We’re going to get stretched like every team is but I’d like to think we’re in a stronger position now to deal with that. We’ve got good competition for places.”
